Faraday Microgrids was engaged to design, specify, procure, and supply the battery energy storage systems (BESS), balance of systems, and integration for the San Benito Renewable Energy Microgrid. We developed a fully integrated 500 kilowatt-hour battery energy storage system with power conditioning and third party controller joined to a 47 kilowatt rooftop solar array.
Notable design achievements included the ability to “island” the entire facility behind an automatic transfer switch – regulating the solar, diesel generator, and battery systems to maintain continuity of services and balance of systems. This keeps the facility up and running even when the Grid is unreliable. The San Benito system received rapid approvals for interconnection from the AHJ.
