Healthcare Clinic Microgrid
SYSTEM:
19 KW SOLAR + 250 KWH BATTERY + FARADAY CONTROLLER
STATUS: UNDERWAY; GROUNDBREAKING EARLY 2024
The Tamalpais Pediatric Medical Clinic and Faraday Microgrids will be utilizing a large grant by the California Energy Commission (CEC) to build the first of its kind microgrid. By employing a microgrid system, the project will be the first pediatric clinic to become resilient and provide a continuity of services despite a wide array of risk for utility disruptions.
The Tamalpais microgrid system will include a 19 KW solar array and 250 KWh second-life batteries sourced from Faraday Microgrid’s partner, REPURPOSE Battery. Once the microgrid is completed, it will power 80% of the pediatric medical clinic’s energy needs, ensuring continuous service to children even during utility outages.
This project will enhance the resilience of a vital pediatric healthcare facility, prioritizing children facing illness and disease. The utilization of clean, renewable energy generation and recycled battery materials demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and community well-being.
RESULTS:
SUPPORTING 80% OF THEIR FACILITY OPERATION. UP TO 50% REDUCTION IN UTILITY DEMAND
COSTS AND UP TO 20% OF ENERGY EXPENSES.
